Can you believe that most traders are using the wrong kind of computer, and it's the main reason they keep missing trades?
If you're trading on a low-end, an old, or big-box store computer, it's costing you money.
Let's take a deep dive into what the best possible trading computer setup is for 2025.
And it doesn't matter if you're day trading stocks, swing trading crypto, or you're trying to get funded.
The machine you use matters! Speed, stability, and multitasking power can make or break your trading day.
I'm going walk you through all of those components that matter. I'm going to explain them to you in plain English. By the end, you'll know exactly what to look for and you'll know what to avoid when buying or upgrading a trading computer.
Processor: Engine of Your Trading Computer
Let's start with the processor, and if you followed me at all, I talk about this all the time. You've heard me say it a hundred times.
The processor is the engine of your computer. It's the motor. It's where all the heavy lifting happens. It is running your trading platform and all of that real-time data, your market data. It's also running any video feeds, charts, news, and anything else you're running in the background.
Most traders don't realize that real-time data alone is like trying to stream 10 Netflix movies at the same time. Your machine has to take in all of this data and display it to you in spot-on on real-time. No buffering or spinny arrow, like when you load Netflix on your TV.
Let me give you an analogy that I like to use because it still holds up now in 2025 and will forever.
Think of your trading computer like a high-performance sports car. The processor is the engine. If you are entering a race, would you roll up in a Honda Civic? Of course, you wouldn't. You would want a supercharged V12 monster under the hood.
Same idea with trading. Your trading day is a high-speed race, and your processor determines how fast and how smoothly your machine can react to everything you're throwing at it.
All 10 of those Netflix movies. We use a thing called a benchmark score to measure how powerful your processor is. A benchmark score of 25,000 is the minimum.
Get Your Processor’s Benchmark Score
If you go to eztradingcomputers.net/cpu, I will walk you through exactly how to figure out what processor is in your computer and what its benchmark score is.
The bare minimum is 25,000, and that's just like having a decent V6. It'll get you around the track, but you're not winning any races.
If you're serious about trading, which I know you are, if you're watching this video, you want a benchmark score of at least 60,000 or more. That's where you're getting elite performance.
Top Processor Pick
As of right now, my top pick for a processor with elite performance is the Intel Ultra 9 285K. This chip is a beast, and it benchmarks at over 68,000. It's fast, it's efficient, and it's made for high-performance trading.
All of that power also generates a lot of heat, and that's why I only recommend using liquid cooling.
Now, don't worry, liquid cooling doesn't mean pouring water into your pc. It's a sealed, quiet system that doesn't require any maintenance. It's like a mini radiator for your computer. It keeps your processor running at full speed without overheating, which means better performance and a longer lifespan.
RAM: Multitasking Powerhouse
If you're like most serious traders, you're not just running one trading platform. You've got multiple platforms open. You might even be watching a YouTube live stream. You've got news feeds, maybe Discord, maybe Zoom, and maybe a scanner.
All of these eat up your system memory, and that's why I recommend a minimum of 32 GB of RAM for 2025. But honestly, if you can swing it, go with 64 GB of RAM, or even 128 GB of RAM.
RAM is like breathing room for your computer. The more you have, the better your machine handles multitasking.
Now, if you're trying to figure all this out and you want a deeper explanation in plain English, go download my free guide: The Complete Guide to Trading Computers. It breaks everything down for you. The processor, graphics card, storage, and monitors, all explained clearly and an easy-to-print PDF.
Graphics Cards: The Future of AI in Trading
In 2025, video cards are more important than ever, and that's because more trading platforms are introducing AI-powered tools. The AI processing happens in the graphics processor. In other words, AI uses the power of your video cards for its magic.
These new AI modules that are being introduced by these trading platforms can analyze price action, identify patterns, run back tests, which a lot of people like to do, and they can even make real-world trading suggestions.
Right now, most of that happens in the cloud, but soon traders are going to run their AI locally, and the only place that's going to happen is on your video cards.
Now, why would you want to do this locally? Because these are your trading secrets, your indicators, your edge. You don't want those stored on a shared server. You want full control, privacy, and speed. That's going to happen locally, and that's why I recommend using an Nvidia RTX 4060, at a bare minimum.
It is an AI ready card with something called tensor cores, which means it's designed to run the AI calculations right on your machine. It also supports up to four monitors so you can see all of your tools and charts, everything all at once.
And yes, the Nvidia 5000 series is out and it works, but honestly, we haven't seen a big enough jump in performance to justify the big jump in cost for traders. So for now, you can stick with the RTX 4060 or the Nvidia RTX 4070, and they'll get the job done beautifully.
How Many Monitors
Now speaking of monitors, if you're trading on a single screen, you're basically flying blind. The best traders use two, four, or even eight monitors.
As you can see, I use six monitors. Now I keep an eye on my charts, my position, the news, and the scanners, all at once. There's no flipping around from window to window. There's no searching that taskbar. If you're using one monitor, you're constantly banging around in the taskbar. You are not missing any breakouts, you're not missing any information.
The Nvidia RTX 4060 supports four monitors, and if you need more, we can configure that for you too.
Storage and Technical Support
This is when your computer is off, where all your trading applications and all your data is stored. You want at least 1 TB of something called NVME, solid state storage.
NVME drives are the fastest on the market. They load your trading application, browser, and files instantly. They also help your system boot faster, recover faster, and handle heavy data loads like tick charts, replays, and video recordings.
Believe me, you don't want to be waiting for your system to catch up in the middle of a breakout trade.
The very best trading computer in 2025 will have the best possible technical support and warranty. This might be one of the most overlooked factors when you're buying a trading computer.
No matter how good your machine is, something will eventually go wrong. A Windows update will get hosed up. You'll have a networking issue. A platform will download a bug. You’ll accidentally download a virus.
It happens. And when that happens, do you want to call some call center in India? I don't think so. Have you ever tried to call the tech support at your internet provider, like Xfinity or AT&T? Talk about a frustrating experience.
What you want is real help from someone who knows trading, from someone who only deals with traders. That's exactly what you get with EZ Trading Computers.
We offer lifetime premium technical support. As long as you're using that machine, you can call our tech support with any issue you have. We only deal with traders. Again, this is a premium service. It's included with every system we sell.
Our desktop computers also come with a 5-year bumper-to-bumper warranty. We've got your back. Every component, the processor, RAM, storage, and the motherboard, is covered for a full five years.
