How to Never Miss An Important Email Again

Ten minutes passed. I was still waiting, but nothing arrived in my Gmail inbox. My day got busy, and I forgot all about that urgent email. At 4:00 pm it dawned on me. I still didn't have it. Fed up, I decided to check my spam folder. Sure enough! I received it at 9:04 am, two minutes after I finished talking to my accountant. His message was sitting in my SPAM folder all day. Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever missed an important email because Gmail filtered it? In 2017, Gmail had a 21% market share, putting it well above all other email software. By mid-2020, Gmail's share had slightly more than doubled to 43%. Chances are good you use Gmail. I don't know about you, but it seems like nearly all the cool information I sign up for online winds up in my spam folder or my promotions tab on Gmail. If you share my frustration, today's blog post is for you. And even if you use some other email service, you will find the steps I outline below to be very similar. If you follow the instructions below, you'll never miss an important email again. It happens in my Hotmail accounts and my Yahoo accounts, too, but Gmail is by far the worst. If you happen to use Gmail, please do the following: please make us (or any important contact) a safe sender. It literally takes just seconds. Here's how you do it. Let's pretend you just signed up for my Trading Computer Guide. The message could be from me, Eddie Z, or EZ Trading Computers. Two Gmail views, the More link circled on the left and the expanded label list with Spam circled If you happen to use Gmail, go to your spam folder and look to see if our email is there. Just go over to where it says More, click the drop-down, and click on your Spam folder. The Gmail spam folder with a sender card open showing the address and an Add to contacts button Now you can see that, at the moment, none of the EZ Trading Computer emails are in the spam folder. But let's assume there is an email from Eddie Z. All you would need to do is hover over it, and click Add to contacts. Gmail confirming a sender was added to contacts, with the Not spam button under the pointer Also, you can check it off and click Not spam. You want to do both of these things. Two Gmail views showing a conversation dragged out of Promotions and dropped on the Primary tab Next what you want to do if my email is not in spam, is go to the Inbox. As you know, in Gmail you have three tabs. Look for us in the Promotions tab. If you see our email like this one right here in your promotions tab, what I want you to do is do the same thing. Hover over it, Add to contacts, and then take the email and drag it over to Primary. Gmail confirming a conversation moved to Primary and offering to do the same for future messages You're going to get a message up at the top: Your conversation has been moved to Primary. Do this for future messages from Eddie Z? Make sure to click Yes. An empty Gmail Promotions tab with a note listing three steps to move a sender to Primary Make sure you follow all the steps: Add to contacts, mark as Not Spam, drag to Primary, and click Yes. Do this for future contacts whose emails you don't want to miss. It's really that simple. An open Gmail message with the menu showing and Filter messages like this highlighted Now if you really want to make sure my emails never, ever, ever have a chance of getting to spam, here's what to do: First, click on the email to open it. Once the email opens, look for the kabob (3 vertical dots) on the right. Click Filter messages like this. The Gmail filter panel with a sender address in the From box and Create filter with this search below You'll get this pop up box, and it'll have my email already in here. Click Create filter. The Gmail filter actions list with Never send it to Spam and Always mark it as important ticked You want to mark it Never send to spam and Always mark it as important... Apply to matching messages and Create filter. Now everything will wind up in your Inbox. You won't miss it in Promotions, and you won't miss it in your Spam. You'll never miss another important email again! There are more trading computer tips like this in our buyers guide. Check out our "How To Buy a Trading Computer" e-book.
